Giving Thanks this Thanksgiving!
Like you, we are getting ready to celebrate another Thanksgiving holiday. However, for us it will be our first one in Colorado! And as we look back over the last year we have SO MUCH to be thankful for! Because God is the giver of every good gift, we give our thanks to Him first. But because we couldn’t be here in Colorado without faithful partners like you, we give our thanks to you as well! Partnering together, God has already done so much to get us to this point in our church planting journey.
Oak Street Baptist Church, our church home for the past 27 years, met a crucial Mission Board church planting requirement by agreeing to become our sending church, and to support us with their prayers and significant financial commitments. God sold our home in Elizabethton in one week! God moved us safely from TN to an apartment in Longmont, CO the end February. God provided a wonderful home for us in Mead, and we moved in the end of May.
We have had many neighbors and community leaders in our home, and we have served our community on a number of different occasions. Since arriving in Colorado, we interned for seven months with a new church plant, Living Rock Church near Fort Collins, CO. In October we shared our church planting vision with eleven different churches in TN. This month we hosted a mission team from TN and ID that began finishing our basement. Once finished our basement will enable us to have larger Bible studies and church services in our home, and provide a place for a summer church planting intern to live with us.
We continue to learn our community, to build relationships with our neighbors, and serve our new hometown in as many ways as possible. Grandview Church will be helping with Mead’s Christmas season kick-off on Dec. 5th. I have been offered an opportunity to coach a third grade youth basketball team from Mead beginning in December. We anticipate helping a Young Life program get started at Mead High School next year. We are planning Christmas gatherings in our home and in our community. We are continuing to seek church planting partners who will help us carry the heavy load of starting a new church from scratch. We continue to find and develop new church partners who will support us through prayer and finances. We are beginning to organize several mission team activities for the coming year. We are continuing to put together the many essential pieces of ministry and administration for the growth and reproduction of Grandview Church!
Our greatest need continues to be for Christ-followers who will live here and love the lost with us in Northeastern Colorado. Will you join us in making that need a matter of earnest prayer? If you would like our latest prayer card, please let us know and we will send one right out to you. As always, you can invest in our ministry financially through our sending church, Oak Street Baptist Church, 804 Oak Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or Longs Peak Baptist Association, P.O. Box 755, Loveland, CO 80539. Just make your check out to either ministry, and note your contribution is for Grandview Church.
Thank you for your prayerful and financial partnership in getting us this far! By God’s grace we look forward to celebrating even greater blessings together next Thanksgiving as a result of your faithful partnership with us here at Grandview Church in Mead, Colorado! Have a greatly blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas season!
